The use of 3D printers at Psicontrol
Can we increase our flexibility and gain crucial time in our design process? The answer is a “Double yes” thanks to the help of four 3D printers we have in-house.
At Psicontrol, we’ve been using 3D printers for a number of years. However, in the meantime, Psicontrol now has four different 3D printers, three of which are FDM printers and one of which is an SLA printer.
The first application for which these printers are used is for the production of prototypes for customer projects. If we start a customer project and want to test or validate certain pieces in a short period of time, our own 3D printers enable us to first work it out completely digitally and internally, start the print (this can even happen overnight), and then the very next day the design can be tested and evaluated. This means we can increase our flexibility, gain crucial time in the design process, and also save on the costs associated with outsourcing this work.
The second application involves printing tools for our own production facilities. This allows us to internally print tools for production, such as jigs, to keep components straight during soldering in an ESD-safe material that can withstand temperatures up to 140°C.
With our in-house 3D printers, we can continue to improve our understanding of this technology. And that means we can possibly open up even more new opportunities in the future.
